Camera & Photos Skills Practice
This activity lets you practice camera and photo skills in a safe simulated phone.
Nothing here changes your real phone. Take your time. If something does not work the first time, try again.
1. Open the Camera
Tap the Camera app on the practice phone.
✓ Good. You opened the Camera app.
On a real phone, the Camera icon may look a little different.
2. Take a Picture
Tap the large white shutter button.
✓ Picture taken. The phone would save it automatically.
The shutter button is usually a large circle near the bottom of the Camera screen.
3. Tap to Focus
Tap the flower in the camera view to tell the camera what you want it to focus on.
✓ Good. You told the camera what part of the picture you want in focus.
On a real phone, you may see a square, circle, or other focus mark where you tap.
4. Switch Cameras
Tap the circular-arrow button to switch from the rear camera to the front camera.
✓ You switched to the front camera.
If you unexpectedly see yourself, the front camera is probably selected.
5. Photo and Video
Tap Video, then tap the record button. Tap it again to stop.
✓ You started and stopped a short video.
Photo captures one moment. Video records motion and sound.
6. Find the Last Picture
Tap the small thumbnail beside the shutter button.
✓ That thumbnail opens the picture you just took.
A thumbnail is a small preview of a larger picture.
7. Find an Older Picture
Tap one of the older pictures in the Photos / Gallery grid.
✓ Good. Photos / Gallery is where you find pictures you already have.
Camera takes the picture. Photos or Gallery helps you find and work with it later.
8. Delete a Practice Picture
Tap the trash can, then confirm that you want to move the picture to Trash.
Move to Trash?
This is only a practice picture.
✓ Deleted. On many phones, deleted pictures stay in Trash or Bin for a while.
If you delete an important picture by mistake, check Trash or Bin before assuming it is gone forever.
9. Share a Picture
Tap Share, then choose Messages.
✓ Good. You chose Messages to share the picture.
On a real phone, always check the recipient before you press Send.
10. Check Backup Status
Read the Google Photos status below. Is it safe to say these photos have finished backing up?
Backup is off
Photos on this phone may not be saved to your Google account.
Yes — they are backed up
No — do not assume that
✓ Correct. Seeing a picture in Google Photos does not prove it is backed up.
Class rule: Only photos that have actually finished backing up are protected if the phone is lost, damaged, or replaced.
✓
